The banner stand is designed to support lightweight fabric printed graphics, which are high quality, vibrant and durable. A 220gsm dye sublimation printed polyester called ‘eco-stretch’ is used, with the prints sewn to form a loop at the top and the bottom to be fixed onto the framework of the Pegasus banner. As the prints are made from fabric, they can be folded or rolled for convenient transport and storage. Any creases can be removed with a hand steamer and the fabric can be machine-washed, ensuring that the banner stand maintains the most professional appearance at all times. Exhibitions and trade shows represent significant events in the calendar of most businesses today, providing a forum in which to meet new customers and to foster relationships with existing clients. Giant Banner Stands Popular Despite Recession

2010 has been a very busy year so far!

Despite the current economic climate, our level of sales have remained very good thanks to a greater number of customer who have turned to Printdesigns for the supply of their portable exhibition display stands in a bid to save money when compared to their local supplier.

In 2009, we launched our new Giant banner stand which measures a huge 2M wide with a height of 2M. We were not quite sure how the market would react to such a large banner stand but we have been getting some really great feedback from customers who have bought this product.

For those looking for a display in this size region, the choice is normally limited to a traditional pop up stand but the problem with pop up stands is that despite the good looks, they are just too big to transport conveniently because they pack into a large wheeled case. The giant roller banner stand, however weighs around 12KG and can be carried easily by one person without the need for a wheeled case.

When we look at the 'bang for buck' factor with the giant banner stand, we can easily see that at 4sqM printed area for around £200, it is providing the same display area as a 3x3 pop up stand for less than half the cost!

Portable Exhibition Banner Stands - A Quick Guide

There are many types of portable exhibit banner stands on the market at the present, all of which are ideal of events, conferences and exhibitions. We thought it would be useful to sumarise in a couple of hundred words what the main options are. In later blog entries, we will talk in greater detail about each type of display.

Our first article is about banner stands. In later articles, we will look at other types of displays like pop up stands and twist banners.
Banner Stands
These are normally used as stand-alone displays although multiple banner stands can be placed within an exhibition stand, either spaced around the stand spare or by arranging them side by side. Banner stands usually measure between 600mm wide x 2000mm wide and have a height of between 1800mm and 2200mm. The most popular type of banner stands are roller banners. Roller banners work like an upside down projector screen or roller blind whereby the print itself is wound into a cassette that is tensioned by a coiled spring. One of the best things about roller banners is the print is stored inside the base while in transit and thus it is protected from damage. Roller Banners vary enormously in price from less than £50 for a budget banner stand model, up to over £200 for a top of the range, heavyweight model like our giant banner stand.
Another type of banner stand is a tensioned banner stand. These systems tension the print by either a telescopic pole or flexible rod poles. Tensioned banners can have a very nice, stylish appearance but are more difficult to assemble and transport due to the fact that the print is stored and transported separately. If you are looking for an eye-catching, portable display stand then a pop up display could be the ideal solution. Pop up stands or pop up displays are proving to be perhaps the most popular type of medium size exhibition stand available these days.

Essentially a pop up stand is a collection of metal tubing which is arranged geometrically to create a compact, lightweight framework which expands to create a back-wall.

Pop up stand frames weigh typically around 10kg but are usually supplied in a wheeled hard case with graphic panels taking the average weight up to around 30kg. Pop up displays are easy to transport on the back seat of a car or in the boot

Assembly of a pop up stand is very quick and easy with the frame erecting in a matter of seconds. The most time consuming part of pop up stand assembly is perhaps the attachment of the printed panels which attach to the framework magnetically in sections to create the appearance of a continuous wall.

Over recent years the marketplace in the UK has become saturated with so-called pop up stand display specialists. It's easy to make a website and claim to be a pop up stand expert and in fact the internet seems to be full to bursting with these businesses.

So if you are thinking about buying a pop up display what should you look out for?

Firstly - shop around. A quick sweep around Google Adwords will yield a wide selection on companies offering pop up stands. Take the time to visit as many websites as you can and compare prices. As a supplier of pop up stands I am amazed by the prices some suppliers are getting away with charging. I found one company advertising exactly the same type of displays that we sell for literally twice as much money. It's frightening that so many people must be paying so much over the odds!

Secondly - wherever you buy from look up the business at www.companieshouse.co.uk There is a free webcheck service that will tell you how long the company has been trading. You can verify instantly that you are dealing with an established business who is more likely to be around in the future should you need aftersales support on your pop up display should you need it.

Thirdly - Make sure that the company you buy from is printing the display themselves. Too many companies are buying cheap pop up stands from China and are drop-shipping them to the customer. It goes without saying that thre is no way a business like this can ensure the printing of the pop up stand is up to an acceptable quality.

Last of all - Make sure you are comparing like with like. This goes for the frame itself and the printing. If the supplier does not tell you who the manufacturer of the frame is you can bet it's probably a cheap import, look for frames that are manufactured in the UK.

The printing of a pop up stand should be output onto a suitable material such as Opal Jet which is a film designed specifically for displays such as these. Once again, if the supplier does not provide information as to what your panels are printed onto, it's probably because they don't want to tell you. Beware, cheap paper based prints will damage easily and are prone to splitting apart.

If the supplier tries to put you off then the likelihood is that they are outsourcing production and don't have anything to show you!

Foreign or overseas companies are advertising banner stands all over Google these days, typically these sellers offer cheap, Chinese manufactured stands with cheap quality printing. We get calls literally every week from customers who have purchased displays from overseas only to find the quality is poor when they get the finished item.

Finally check out the companies history before you buy from them. We recently came across a company running an Adwords campaign on Google offering 'lifetime warranties' and promising the earth is terms of satisfaction guarantees etc. The company in question is actually in receivership at preset and still touting for business!
